The Safari Company Launches New Helicopter Safari

Inviting guests and thrill-seekers to discover Kenya’s most impressive geographical wonders and hidden jewels with a range of personalised excursions, The Safari Company has launched a new helicopter safari adventure.

The Safari Collection has launched its new and exhilarating Helicopter Safari Experience, offering guests the total freedom to discover Northern Kenya’s wildest, most spectacular and extreme locations. Soaring to the skies, travellers are invited to explore some of East Africa’s most impressive geographical wonders and hidden gems, gaining an entirely new perspective on Kenya’s landscapes and wildlife. From flying through the dramatic rocky gorges of the Suguta Valley, gliding alongside flamingos over Lake Logipi, landing on vast desert dune fields or visiting the top of a sacred Samburu mountain for a breakfast with unimaginable views, this is the ultimate bucket-list safari experience.

Providing the perfect starting spot from which to explore Kenya’s untouched north, the private-pilot Eurocopter AS 350 B3 is currently based at Sasaab, a spectacular luxury tented camp in the heart of the Samburu wilderness. From here, guests will take off and follow the Ewaso Nyiro River as it winds its way through the Samburu plains, looking out for all sorts of wildlife with the advantage of a bird’s eye view, including the Grevy’s zebra, endemic to this area of northern Kenya.

Touring over Ololokwe, a solitary rocky mountain rising 2,000 metres out of the surrounding Samburu lands, thrill-seekers can look forward to a once-in-a-lifetime experience as they land on one of its smooth rock ledges to enjoy sundowners with panoramic views. The cultural and geological excursion also enables guests to spend time with a remote community of Pokot people, just west of Mount Silali as well as then flying east over Mount Silali, the largest caldera volcano in the Great Rift Valley.

Inviting guests and thrill-seekers to discover Kenya’s most impressive geographical wonders and hidden jewels with a range of personalised excursions, The Safari Company has launched a new helicopter safari adventure.

Perched on the edge of a river valley in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, the architecture of Sasaab blends Swahili and Moroccan design principals in which the African heat is of primary consideration. Each of the nine canvas-sided rooms is over 100m2 with private plunge pools and breath-taking views across the Laikipia Plateau toward the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya.

Surrounded by a dotted landscape of mountains, wildlife and rich cultural heritage, Sasaab is a place for real adventure. In addition to Heli excursions, guests can look forward to authentic cultural experiences and adrenaline filled fun; from game drives encountering herds of elephants and learning about the myriad of birdlife, or even exploring the wilderness on foot, camel or quadbike, to fly-camping under the stars, there is something spoiling for everyone.

Available across each of The Safari Collection’s four distinct lodges – including Solio Lodge, Sala’s Camp and Nairobi’s iconic Giraffe Manor – this helicopter safari experience allows travellers to enjoy the luxury safari of a lifetime, combining wildlife, mountains, lakes ancient forests and people all in one of the world’s last real wildernesses.
