Opening in early 2024, The Homestead is an intimate eco-conscious ultra-luxury lodge located on the Nambiti Private Game Reserve in South Africa.
Set to burst onto South Africa’s safari scene in a few months, The Homestead is a exciting new boutique wilderness retreat. However, forget images of drab bush interiors and thatch roofs – this is an unapologetically modern retreat, hewn from local iron stone and centred around a stunning elevated main lodge building, home to an infinity pool, restaurant, and bar, and topped with a tranquil garden.
While the interiors are contemporary and captivating, the lodge’s profile (including rooves planted with indigenous savannah grasses) is subdued to allow it to nestle seamlessly into its stunning environment, which remains one of South Africa’s most acclaimed wildlife reserves. Steeped in history and bristling with technology, this new safari lodge will get you closer to the big five, with the chance to spot over 50 protected mammal species and over 300 bird species.
Several of the lodge’s 12 suites can be connected, making The Homestead ideal for families travelling together, and all have spectacular views over the watering hole, private decks, butler service and wifi.
You’ll also fine well, with cuisine by executive chef Kamal John laced with local ingredients and served at either The Bistro or at the captivating Captain’s Table, which tells the origin story of the Krogman family.
The Nambiti reserve is regarded as one of South Africa’s most ambitious conservation initiatives and one of the few reserves where the majesty of the Big Five free from the threat of malaria. You’ll be able to explore the reserve by electric game vehicle, take an animal photography class, visit a historic battlefield, shower in the waterfalls of the Drakensberg, stargaze, take a cooking class using local ingredients, camp high in the mountains, or take part in sustainable initiatives.
After your adventures, sore, jetlagged muscles can be soothed by world-class therapists using Terre D’Afrique oils or simply take an early morning yoga class or a swim in your private infinity pool.
