New Antarctica & Arctic Cruises From EYOS Expeditions

Leading private superyacht expedition company EYOS, in partnership with Nansen Polar Expeditions, offers new departures to Antarctica and the Arctic in 2022 with individual cabin and fully charter options.

Combining their collective expertise, the two brands have introduced a new expedition yacht experience to the polar regions aboard the newly refitted seven-cabin MV Nansen Explorer. Drawing on EYOS’ decade of experience operating private yacht expeditions to the polar regions, the scheduled departures and charters will take travelers to destinations far removed where most superyachts are sailing.

Following a multimillion-dollar refit in Spring 2021, MV Nansen Explorer now accommodates only 12 passengers in seven spacious staterooms and suites. Originally designed as an Arctic research vessel, MV Nansen Explorer is an industry first, bridging the gap between a super yacht and an expedition vessel. With an Ice-1A class hull, the ship can venture deeper into the ice pack, sailing to parts of the polar regions where other yachts rarely reach, including south of the Antarctic Circle.  Passengers will also have access to kayaks, standup paddleboards, diving equipment, and two zodiacs to explore the remote wilderness up close.

With rugged exteriors equipped to sail through the polar regions, the modern, Scandinavian-inspired cabins are elegantly appointed with natural materials. Most cabins also feature sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea. There is a fully equipped gym and a dining room where a rotating menu of Michelin-star level cuisine is served courtesy of the onboard culinary team.

A rare opportunity for expedition Superyacht travel, individual cabins may be booked for Greenland itineraries departing April 24 and June 19, both traveling round-trip from Kangerlussuaq. The first itinerary will be dedicated to heli-skiing and will visit the island of Maniitsoq, considered one of the most remote places to heli-ski, while the second departure will explore the northern coast, traveling 150 miles beyond the Arctic Circle to Disko Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site that is home to some of the largest icebergs in the world – with some reaching up to 300 feet.

EYOS will also offer individual cabins in Antarctica during its February 3, 2023, departure, round-trip from Ushuaia. This photography-themed expedition is designed to be longer than most other Peninsula sailings, giving ample opportunity to reach both the Weddell Sea in the north, and weather permitting, Marguerite Bay, south of the Antarctic Circle and seldomly reached by ships. Renowned polar photographers Daisy Gilardini, awarded in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and Ambassador for Greenpeace; and Audun Lie Dahl, winner of European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, will be onboard to share tips with guests to capture the perfect shots in the field.
