Aardvark Safaris will offer access to three new micro camps in Botswana’s acclaimed Okavango Delta this year.
All three of the new micro camps will offer the most incredible safari experiences and are located in the wildlife-rich Okavango Delta – a UNESCO World Heritage Site which boasts one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems.
The largest of the three camps is four rooms, ensuring the absolute antithesis of mass tourism and making them perfect for those seeking an authentic and more intimate safari experience. In addition, all camps are not only available per room, but also on an exclusive use basis – ideally suited for families or small groups traveling together.
Duke’s East – Opening May 2023
Located in a remote area on a channel of the Northern Okavango Delta, Duke’s East is the sister camp to Duke’s Camp (opened 2022) delivering the same style and incredible service but on an even smaller scale. Set beneath a canopy of Ebony and Leadwood trees and boasting beautiful lagoon views, this camp has just four spacious tents (comprising one double, two twin and one family with private pool) all with en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and a private verandah.
The beautiful concession is overflowing with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. With exceptional guides to take guests on 4×4 wildlife drives, boating trips, mokoro meanders, scenic helicopter flights or a night fly-camping on a secluded lantern-lit island.
North Island Okavango – Opening July 2023
An intimate three-bedroom luxury tented camp located on its very own private island in the northern fringes of the Okavango Delta, North Island sits amongst a congregation of beautiful big trees and boasts the most incredible lagoon views.
With floodplains, open savannah and woodlands all on offer here, the wildlife opportunities in and around camp are truly exceptional, and guests will get to experience the famous Okavango Delta three ways year-round; on land (4×4 and walking), on water (mokoro) and in the air (helicopter) – each new adventure as extraordinary as the last
Sitatunga Private Island Camp – Opening July 2023
This beautiful camp is built out of recycled materials and its giant basket shape design is inspired by the local Bayei fishermen. Located on its very own island, comprising just three spacious suites (two one-bedroom and one two-bedroom) each with a rustic thatched roof, its own lounge and private plunge pool, the camp is set high in the ebony trees with incredible lagoon views.
Due to its island location, safaris here are predominantly by boat. Sightings of elephants, crocodiles, hippos and the rare sitatunga antelope are all possible, in addition to hundreds of species of birds, as guests journey the deep reed bed lined channels of one of the greatest rivers on Earth.
