Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge, a historic boutique hotel nestled along Oregon’s Rogue River, has debuted stunning new Glass Cabins with 360-degree views.
Surrounded by the untamed beauty of the Pacific Northwest wilderness, the new cabins are part of the hotel’s first major renovations in more than 50 years, which also includes a new restaurant and culinary program helmed by executive chef Derek Piva.
While the property has long been a second home to artists, fisherman, poets and adventurers wanting to experience the luxurious tranquility of nature since opening in 1970, these new renovations under a new ownership team elevate Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge to a global destination.
Designed in partnership with ÖÖD, Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge’s 12 new Glass Cabins seamlessly infuse stunning modern design within a breathtaking natural landscape. The cabins feature mirrored walls that reflect their surroundings – the vast starry night sky, majestic mountain peaks, the Rogue River and more – while providing guests with unobstructed views.
For ample privacy, the cabins are spaced out through different sections of the property, with options for Mountain View Glass Cabins, Creekside Glass Cabins and River Front Cabins. Designed for two guests, each Glass Cabin also has a private patio with a personal fire pit and outdoor soaking tub.
Alongside the new Glass Cabins, renovations roll out throughout the 40-room property, including refreshing the bi-level Main Lodge, which houses the Restaurant, Bar, Lounge, Library and two Suites; the Guest Lodge with its 16 rooms; and building two new guest houses.
Modeled after the natural textures of the Pacific Northwest, each element of the property is designed to envelop guests in nature. Rooms, suites and guest houses feature vaulted ceilings with cedar beams, Douglas fir wainscotting, river rock fireplaces, expansive windows and sliding glass doors, and patios and terraces, to offer maximum interactions with the outdoors.
Housed in the Main and Guest Lodges, the 18 rooms include Double Queen, Standard King, Fireplace King and Deluxe King. Each room offers French-style sliding doors that lead to private patios. The two suites – Steelhead Suite and Chinook Suite – offer two and three guest rooms respectively, a kitchen, a living area, and a private cedar deck with patio furnishings, a grill and a covered soaking tub.
Perfect for families and larger parties, the four Guest Houses offer two and three bedrooms. New houses include Otter Point and Fern Creek Cottage, joining existing guest houses River House and Osprey Bend. With unparalleled views of the river and amenities designed to relax as a group, each charming lodge is outfitted with modern fixtures, and include expansive common areas like a wrap-around furnished deck with outdoor soaking tubs.
Centered around the ethos of “wilderness to table,” the Restaurant at Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge honours the rich culinary traditions of the Pacific Northwest and the craft of the region’s farmers, hunters and purveyors, while pulling from the international cooking experiences of executive chef Derek Piva. Piva was born and raised in Brazil, and has cooked throughout the country and in New Zealand, before going to New York City, where he cooked in acclaimed kitchens at The Musket Room, Tao Group, and Tompkins Square Hospitality to name a few.
With its diverse habitats and abundant biodiversity, southern Oregon offers an unparalleled playground for wildlife enthusiasts. Known for its amenities, Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge offers a range of activities and tools to enjoy all the scenic land has to offer. The creekside spa is discreetly nestled among the trees, offering a secluded, tranquil haven, while the wood-burning sauna offers guests a relaxing experience to the sounds of the gentle stream and crackling of the fire. Overlooking the river, the year-round pool (heated during cooler months) offers lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Guests can also participate in jet river boat tours by Jerry’s Rogue Jets, the original Rogue River jet boat tour run by lifelong boatmen, and enjoy fly fishing in the legendary Rogue River, with waters teeming with wild steelhead and salmon. Ideal for anglers of all skill levels. Framed by lush forests and rugged canyon walls, guests can kayak down gentle currents of the river and keep an eye out for the resident harbour seal, Stella, who spends time in the depths by the rock just East of the lodge.
