Private residential superyacht M/Y Njord promises cutting-edge design, sublime apartments, and an ever-changing view from the window.
Avid cruisers will remember when The World was launched in 2001 as the world’s first luxury condo building at sea. Now, following in a similar style, the M/Y Njord is a partnership between award-winning architectural and interior design legend Jean-Michel Gathy and Ocean Residences Development.
A pioneering residential superyacht and the world’s most technically advanced green ship, M/Y Njord is set to create a new language of luxury onboard. Gathy has been appointed as the lead interior designer, curating exceptional homes where residents will be able to immerse themselves in the authentic culture and history of the destinations the superyacht visits.
At a length of 293 meters, M/Y Njord will offer 117 luxury residences available in 21 distinct configurations comprising two to six bedrooms and ranging from approximately 120 sq.m to 800 sq.m. She is the world’s only residential yacht to offer 14 duplex and two spectacular triplex residences, each with private elevators.
M/Y Njord will also host an impressive array of amenities including a marina, a yacht and sailing club, an expedition and dive center, and various watercraft. Additionally, there is a professional-standard oceanographic research laboratory and a gyroscopic telescope housed in the top deck observatory. Health, safety, and wellbeing are of paramount importance, the yacht will be equipped with the most advanced medical testing, monitoring, and diagnostic equipment.
Gathy’s signature style and designs will span across decks 10 -13 and alongside several of the top residences and penthouses, presenting a homely, comfortable, smart casual, and exclusive yet contemporary atmosphere. Owners will be able to an identity for their residence. For the larger ones, a walk-in wine cellar, cheese room, humidor, safe room, private gym, sauna, steam or many other facilities have been included in order to create a unique microcosm.
The communal areas will emanate a sense of the udique, reflecting a sense of ease and lightness in the designs, and in the proportions, shapes, textures which all together have one common denominator. It is Gathy’s osmosis of style that he has gathered from the extensive interaction with M/Y Njord’s residents who have traveled the globe and stayed at the hotels he has designed. The layers of his creativity will bring coziness, energy, and yet ultimately comfort.
