Tokyo’s New Luxury Retreat

If you’re headed to Asia, time your visit to Japan’s mesmerising capital with the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi.

Located atop a new 39-floor tower overlooking the Imperial Palace Gardens, the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi is poised to become the next level of luxury in this ever-changing city, honouring its illustrious past as it boldly looks to the future when it opens on September 1.

The new hotel is both a restful haven for travellers and a magnet for the city’s sky-high social scene, with a top-floor spa sanctuary and 20 metres (67 foot) pool as well as four distinctly original dining and drinking concepts – three of which are designed by renowned SPIN Design Studio.

A feast for the senses, the Hotel’s interiors evoke an origami-like sense of discovery through layered design motifs envisioned by interiors firm Denniston. Under the masterful touch of lead designer Jean-Michel Gathy, Japanese influences meld seamlessly with a modern aesthetic. In each of the 190 guest rooms and suites, commissioned artworks by Namiko Kitaura bring a feeling of lightness and animation further accentuated by the flowing fabrics of Japanese fashion icon Issey Miyake. At the Spa lobby, a three-dimensional fabric installation billows and sweeps outward, as if caught in a gust of wind.

Led by Executive Chef Marco Riva and culinary sensation Yusuke Aoki in the pastry kitchen, guests can expect artistry on the plate and the palate.  Restaurants and bars at Four Seasons at Otemachi include Est, presenting the innovative French cuisine combined with Japanese precision of Michelin-starred Chef Guillaume Bracaval; Pigneto, a relaxed Italian dining experience with four show kitchens and an outdoor terraza facing the Imperial Palace Gardens; Virtù, a unique bar concept perhaps best described as contemporary Tokyo meets Old World Paris; and The Lounge for indulging in teatime traditions with a fresh twist of Japanese and French tastes.

The Four Seasons’ spa is also set to redefine wellbeing and beauty in today’s Tokyo. From the moment patrons board the dedicated elevator that whisks them up to THE SPA on the 39th floor, they enter a tranquil realm where all five senses are engaged and relaxed. Soaring high above Otemachi, the wellness enclave features sweeping views, five spa treatment rooms which provide luxurious privacy for body and facial treatments, an indoor heated pool, mist chairs, steam rooms, and a series of ofuro, traditional Japanese baths. A fully-equipped gym looks out at the Imperial Gardens by day and the glittering Tokyo skyline at night, making for the perfect backdrop for any kind of workout, be it yoga, cardio or HIIT.
