Ultra-luxury cruise line Explora Journeys has launched a new interpretation of its iconic Owner’s Residence through an exclusive collaboration with renowned Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola.
This visionary partnership debuts aboard EXPLORA III in summer 2026 and extends to EXPLORA IV in 2027, introducing a second Owner’s Residence on each ship and redefining modern ocean living as an immersive, sensory journey shaped by light, movement, and emotional connection.
Urquiola, celebrated for her human-centred approach and masterful use of materials, infuses the design with her signature warmth and Mediterranean sensibility. Positioned aft on Deck 7 of EXPLORA III, the Patricia Urquiola Owner’s Residence spans 280 sqm of thoughtfully composed space, including a sweeping 125 sqm terrace that spans the full width of the ship. Oversized windows frame the sea as living art, creating an ever-present bond with the ocean from the elegant living and dining area to the spacious ensuite bedroom.
Rooted in earthy tones, sun-warmed neutrals, and natural textures, the residence feels like an intimate nest attuned to the rhythm of the waves. Bronze metals catch shifting light, Cipollino and Travertino marble add mineral warmth, ribbed woods evoke gentle textures, and oak parquet with terracotta modules ground the space in tactile harmony. Exceptional craftsmanship shines through a curated selection of iconic Italian furniture—many pieces by Urquiola herself—from Cassina, Kettal, and Moroso, including her Sengu table and sofa system, Dudet chairs, and the Liquefy low table for Glas Italia.
The bedroom features a bespoke king-sized bed draped in fine linens, an expansive dressing room, and a marble bathroom with double vanity, generous bathtub, separate rain shower, and private steam room. Soft, diffused lighting from pieces like the Nocta II lamp adds artistry and depth. A continuous sculpted marble boiserie wall treatment flows nearly 90 linear metres, enhancing seamless transitions between interior and expansive terrace, where guests enjoy a private whirlpool, alfresco dining, and lounge seating with panoramic views.
Accommodating up to four adults (when connected to an adjacent Ocean Terrace Suite), the residence includes private butler services from a dedicated Residence Manager and team. With EXPLORA III’s Maiden Voyage from Barcelona to Lisbon on 3 August 2026—following a Mediterranean Prelude Journey on 24 July—Urquiola’s creation promises to elevate every horizon into a profound sense of calm and belonging at sea.
