A Far East-West Odyssey

Silversea Cruises has commenced pre-sale on its World Cruise 2024, a 132-day odyssey aboard the Silver Shadow entitled Far East-West.

This epic journey has been designed by Silversea’s destination experts to broaden the horizons of even the most well-heeled travelers, connecting many immersive experiences throughout the Pacific Ocean. In total, guests will visit 65 destinations across 14 countries, including 40 new destinations for a Silversea World Cruise. In addition, 23 overnight stays will unlock a deeper cultural immersion than ever before.

Hosted aboard the 388-guest Silver Shadow, the voyage will depart San Francisco on January 15, 2024. Travelers will journey from east to west, from one of the planet’s extremes to the other, on a round-trip itinerary that will encompass most of the Pacific Rim, from Hawaii and remote Pacific isles, to Australia and New Zealand, through Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and the Russian Far East, and back across the Pacific to Alaska, Canada, and California. The remote, volcanic Russian Far East and America’s wildly beautiful Alaska will feature for the first time on a Silversea World Cruise.

In addition to a Bon Voyage gala reception, dinner, overnight accommodation in San Francisco on the evening before departure, and a special farewell event upon the voyage’s conclusion, full World Cruise 2024 guests will enjoy an exclusive collection of once-in-a-lifetime special events and overland experiences. These include an unforgettable evening event aboard the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor; a unique night of magic at Uluru in the Australian outback; and a chance to visit the majestic temples of Central Java.

There will also be a chance to explore vibrant Shanghai including a unique multisensory dining experience, hosted in a secret location that will feature a special menu created just for Silversea guests by an award-winning chef; spend a night at Vladivostok’s Mariinsky Theatre; and delve into traditional Russian culture in Korsakov during a Cossack performance.

As well as enjoying at least one free shore excursion in every port of call – more than 200 experiences in total – full world-cruising guests have exclusive access to a special selection of bespoke shore experiences, the World Cruise Collection. From Brisbane, guests will embark upon a full-day tour of Lady Elliot Island and the Southern Great Barrier Reef, witnessing the coral reef up close and swimming with an incredible array of marine life, including the island’s famous manta rays. From Ho Chi Minh City, travelers will gain exclusive access to Mr. Tran Hu Tuan’s famous fine art collection at a unique home in the city, which includes many valuable works of famous Vietnamese artists, while in Petropavlovsk, guests will experience a magnificent helicopter ride over the remote Kamchatka Peninsula and its volcanic landscapes, traveling on to the Nalychevo valley to bathe in the area’s hot springs.

On top of the World Cruise’s two included overland programs in Uluru and Semarang, guests will have the option of joining additional overland experiences, including a five-day immersion into the most quintessential experiences of authentic New Zealand, from the vineyards of Waiheke Island to the geothermal pools of the Whakarewarewa Maori village; a five-day journey to the famous Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery and a unique cultural experience in Tibet; and a five-day venture to the remote Sheldon Chalet, perched on a spectacular nunatak in the Don Sheldon Amphitheater of Denali’s magnificent Ruth Glacier, among other unforgettable experiences.
